Nicole Garton, B.A., LL.B, LL.M., C.Med, FEA, TEP

Nicole Garton, B.A., LL.B, LL.M., C.Med, FEA, TEP, is a lawyer, mediator and parenting coordinator of family law, wills and estates matters.

In her dispute resolution practice, Nicole focuses on the restructuring of families resulting from separation and divorce and wills and estate challenges. Nicole is skilled in the use of various collaborative interventions, including mediation, collaborative family law and parenting coordination. Nicole is accredited by the Law Society of BC to act as a Family Law Mediator, Parenting Coordinator and Family Law Arbitrator. Nicole founded and leads the North Shore Pro Bono Co-Mediation Practicum Project.

In her solicitor’s practice, Nicole advises on all aspects of estate planning and administration including the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements and trusts, as well as applications for probate and letters of administration. Nicole is the Past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Wills and Trusts Subsection (Vancouver).

Nicole received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2001. Nicole recently completed a Master of Laws from Osgoode Law School in Alternative Dispute Resolution, with a focus on dispute prevention and management for family businesses. Nicole is a Trust and Estates Practitioner (TEP), a Chartered Mediator (C.Med) and a certified Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA). Nicole is a member the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP) and the Estate Planning Councils of Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Nicole volunteers and has leadership roles with a number of community non-profit organizations.
