Monique Shebbeare is a lawyer practising in the areas of wills and estates and out-of-court family law, with a particular interest in assisted reproduction. She advises and assists clients with wills, powers of attorney, trusts, blended family estate planning, donor and surrogacy agreements, marriage and cohabitation agreements, obtaining probate, and administering and distributing estates.
Monique grew up in Vancouver before receiving a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto. Monique was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001 and practiced law for two and a half years at a national law firm before undertaking a counseling training program. In 2006, Monique was called to the British Columbia Bar and practised wills and estates and family law in Victoria.
After her daughter was born, Monique returned to Vancouver and joined Heritage Law in 2011. Monique works effectively with people at times of transition, combining a compassionate approach with sound judgment, strong legal analysis, and practical advice. Monique seeks an understanding of the life situation and personal goals of her clients and other people involved in their situation.
Monique is Education Chair for the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce and a member of several Canadian Bar Association sections, including Wills and Estates and Family Law. Monique is also a volunteer for the Lawyers’ Assistance Program, where she has facilitated a creative writing workshop.
