Lawyer and Mediator
Nicole Garton, founder and principal of Heritage Law, is a lawyer, mediator and parenting coordinator of family law, wills and estates matters. Nicole is accredited by the Law Society of BC to act as a Family Law Mediator, Parenting Coordinator and Family Law Arbitrator.
In her practice, Carrie advises clients on issues related to personal and estate planning, estate administration and litigation. This includes preparation of wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements and trusts, as well as applications for probate and administration.
Heather Cathcart is our firm administrator. After graduating from BCIT, Heather received her Certified Management Accountant designation in 1991 and has worked in a management capacity for a variety of industries including construction, graphic design as well as legal.
Director of Knowledge Management and Paralegal
Since launching her legal career in 1987, Elizabeth has worked in diverse practice areas, including business and corporate, wills and estates, civil litigation and family law. On obtaining her Legal Assistant Diploma in Toronto, Ontario, she first worked for a small intellectual property law firm in London, Ontario, while completing her degree at the University of Western Ontario.
Estate Planning and Real Estate Paralegal
Susan Schweighardt is our wills, estates and real estate paralegal and assists with the firm’s general administration. She started her legal career in 1986 after she obtained her legal assistant certification from BCIT in Maple Ridge, BC.
Family Law Paralegal
Stacie completed the paralegal diploma program at Capilano University, where she was awarded several scholarships and distinctions for her academic achievements. Stacie was also selected by the university to give the student address speech during convocation for the department of business and professional studies.
Cheryl has over 20 years experience in corporate records management, at one point solely responsible for the management of 450 corporate clients. Her experience includes the whole spectrum of corporate management from B.C.
Legal Admin Assistant/Receptionist
Melissa Bruni graduated in January 2014 from the Legal Administrative Assistant program at Douglas College, where she attained her Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate. Melissa is enjoying her career in the legal field, and plans on continuing her education in the future to obtain a paralegal diploma.
